Match Report: VCF Mestalla earn maiden win with five-star derby performance in final home game of the year (5-0)
Valencia CF Mestalla hosted cross-town opposition Atletico Levante on matchday 7 of group III b of Segunda B. The game was quickly put to bed in a five-minute goal rush through a Fran Navarro brace and another one from Emaná. Further second half goals by Guillem Molina and Koba Lein rounded off the scoreline in the final home fixture of the year.
Youth dominated the starting line-ups in a derby that started at a high tempo at both ends with both sides looking to score right from the off. VCF Mestalla came out with an attacking set-up with two main men up top in Fran Navarro and Emaná, who tried to bring menace on the break as the visitors tried to exert a high pressure enjoying chances in the manner of Sobrerón.
Three quick-fire goals in five minutes put the derby beyond doubt. Fran Navarro opened the scoring turning in a great Hugo González cross from the right hand side on 23 minutes.
Fran Navarro’s stifling pressure in midfield forced the opposition into giving away possession and Emaná got on the scoresheet to put Valencia CF Mestalla two goals to the good and open his account for the season and three minutes later, Fran Navarro grabbed his brace to put Valencia CF Mestalla 3-0 up on 26 minutes.
The remainder of the half played out with Atletico Levante ejoying possession but producing little in the way of danger and the first half finished with a comfortable 3-0 lead at the Antonio Puchades at halftime.
The same script followed in the second half with Valencia CF Mestalla being solid and organised at the back and looking to pounce on the counter-attack as for the opposiosion rued their options while being restricted to Monterde effort which went straight down the middle.
Valencia CF Mestalla came close to stretching their healthy lead with two Fran Navarro chances alas, he could not quite wrap his foot around it in either occasion. Later on however, Fran Navarro, turned provider this time to feed the onrushing Guillem Molina to put the ball in the back of the to add a fourth.
Valencia CF Mestalla refused to drop their heads and Koba Lein rounded off the scoreline with a fin solo move the foward wriggled his way into the box and lashed in a powerful left-footed shot to complete the goal fest in the derby and and pick up the maiden win of the season.
Valencia CF Mestalla will visit La Nucia on Saturday 12th of December on matchday 8 of group III of Segunda B at 5 pm kick-off time for their final fixture of the year where they will look to end this unusual year on a positive note.
